Off the charts!

We visited the pediatric cardiologist this week, and got good news! The doctors in Florida advised us to visit a specialist in Annabel’s first two months as they had detected a murmur. The doctor performed an echocardiogram and found only two slight abnormalities, and he said they are very common and are expected to be gone by the time she’s one year old. She weighed in at a healthy 11 pounds, 11 ounces, and when we asked the doctor what percentile she was in for her weight, he told us that she was over 100%!

Annabel and I joined a Mommy and Me group at church this week and met some fun moms and little kids. I think she has a crush on a little boy named Preston. Don’t tell Daddy!

After a fussy Saturday, we hoofed it to Babies R Us in search of something to make her happy. She’s already learned that shopping can cure many a bad mood. Daddy spent all morning assembling her new swing, and she loves it!

I think I saw a bunny rabbit!

Happy Easter everyone! Annabel attended her first Easter Vigil last night. She intended to do some reconnaissance on the sacrament of baptism, but I think she forgot since she slept through the whole service!

Today Grandpa W took us out for a nice brunch and brought Annabel her first Easter bunny. And her first chocolate, but I think Mom and Dad will have to help her out!

Grandma and Grandpa B finally made it back to Texas yesterday after 3 full days of travel. Happy Easter Grandma and Grandpa!

Happy One Month Birthday!

Annabel turned one month yesterday! She looks like a completely different little girl than she did when we first met her. Here she is 4 weeks ago (before she had any of her own clothes) and today.
Also, it seems that Lucy has staked claim to Annabel's crib. We'll have to work on finding her a new spot!

I'm looking over

A four leaf clover

That I overlooked before

One leaf is sunshine,

the second is rain,

Third is the roses that grow in the lane.

No need explaining

the one remaining

Is somebody I adore.

I'm looking over a four leaf clover

That I overlooked before.

Truly Showered

My dear friends had a gorgeous baby shower for me on Saturday. Everything about it was perfect - the decorations, the flowers, the yummy, yummy food. The diaper cake looked good enough to eat! We drank champagne and sparkling pink lemonade and played a competitive game of baby pictionary. In addition to so many special gifts, Annabel got a great start on her library with classics like Goodnight Moon, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish , and the New York Yankees 101 (thanks Tom!). And doesn't Annabel look beautiful in the special shower dress from Aunt Mariana? Sharalyn's daughter Peyton is the other sweetheart in the picture.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the shower hosts Sharalyn, Jen, Mariana, Katie, Jeri, and Cathy. And thanks to Joanne too who couldn't be with us but sent me on a relaxing mani/pedi morning during the preparations.

Grandma and Grandpa visit

Grandma and Grandpa arrived on Wednesday night from Texas to start spoiling their newest grandchild. In between buying presents and cuddling with Annabel, we’ve been busy setting up her nursery. Grandpa built her closet and Grandma ironed all of the curtains and linens. They even volunteered for the nightly feedings and changings for the last two nights so that we could catch up on our sleep!

Busy, Busy

I must admit I was a little skeptical at reports that the job of a SAHM would command 6 figures if working in the corporate world. But I’m a believer now. My to-do list (and Scott’s!) has never been so long. Things seem to get added every day, but not much gets crossed off. I had all of these visions of great things I’ll accomplish while I’m not working, but cuddling with (and feeding and changing!) a sweet baby has definitely taken priority over all of the other thing on the list!

Scott’s coworkers and great friends had an amazing shower for us. Annabel slept through almost all of it, but she got some beautiful presents from her aunts and uncles!

Meeting Grandpa

Here's Grandpa W meeting Annabel for the first time. She's already got him wrapped around her little finger!

Welcome Home Annabel!

We made it home Saturday night a little after 8pm. Our little girl is a great backseat passenger and only cried when she was hungry. Annabel is a very well traveled little lady, and can now mark Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware off her list of states to visit.

The minivan is a phenomenal mode of transportation. Don’t be surprised if you see one in our driveway soon.

Here’s Uncle Stu holding his new niece.
